![]() 18 Now Simon, having seen that the Spirit was given through the laying-on of the hands of the apostles, offered them money, 19 saying, “Give this authority to me also, so-that on whomever I lay on my hands, he may receive the Holy Spirit”. 17 Then they were laying their hands on them, and they were receiving the Holy Spirit. ![]() 16 For He had not yet fallen upon any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Peter and John Come So The Samaritans Might Receive The Holy Spiritġ4 And the apostles in Jerusalem, having heard that “Samaria has accepted the word of God”, sent-forth Peter and John to them- 15 who, having come down, prayed for them so that they might receive the Holy Spirit. He was astonished, seeing both signs and great miracles taking place. And having been baptized, he was attaching-himself to Philip. 12 And when they believed Philip announcing-the-good-news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were being baptized- both men and women. 11 And they were paying attention to him because he had astonished them for a considerable time with the magic-arts. 9 Now a certain man, Simon by name, was-previously in the city practicing-magic and astonishing the nation of Samaria, saying that he was someone great, 10 to whom they all, from the small up to the great, were paying attention, saying, “This one is the Power of God being called ‘Great’”. And many paralyzed ones and lame ones were cured. 7 For many of the ones having unclean spirits- they were coming out while shouting with a loud voice. 6 And the crowds were with-one-accord paying-attention-to the things being said by Philip, during their hearing and seeing the signs which he was doing. Many Are Baptized, Including Simonĥ Now Philip, having gone down to the city of Samaria, was proclaiming the Christ to them. Philip Proclaims Christ And Does Miracles In Samaria. 4 So indeed, the ones having been dispersed went about announcing the word as good news. Entering from house to house, dragging-away both men and women, he was handing them over to prison. 2 And reverent men carried-in Stephen, and made a loud lamentation over him. The Church Is Persecuted And Driven Out of JerusalemĪnd a great persecution came about on that day against the church in Jerusalem, and they were all dispersed throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. And they stopped in many Samaritan villages along the way to preach the Good News.8 1 And Saul was giving-approval to his killing. “Pray to the Lord for me,” Simon exclaimed, “that these terrible things you’ve said won’t happen to me!”Īfter testifying and preaching the word of the Lord in Samaria, Peter and John returned to Jerusalem. Perhaps he will forgive your evil thoughts, for I can see that you are full of bitter jealousy and are held captive by sin.” Repent of your wickedness and pray to the Lord. “Let me have this power, too,” he exclaimed, “so that when I lay my hands on people, they will receive the Holy Spirit!”īut Peter replied, “May your money be destroyed with you for thinking God’s gift can be bought! You can have no part in this, for your heart is not right with God. When Simon saw that the Spirit was given when the apostles laid their hands on people, he offered them money to buy this power. ![]() Then Peter and John laid their hands upon these believers, and they received the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them, for they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. As soon as they arrived, they prayed for these new believers to receive the Holy Spirit. When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that the people of Samaria had accepted God’s message, they sent Peter and John there. He began following Philip wherever he went, and he was amazed by the signs and great miracles Philip performed. ![]() Then Simon himself believed and was baptized. As a result, many men and women were baptized. Everyone, from the least to the greatest, often spoke of him as “the Great One-the Power of God.” They listened closely to him because for a long time he had astounded them with his magic.īut now the people believed Philip’s message of Good News concerning the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ. A man named Simon had been a sorcerer there for many years, amazing the people of Samaria and claiming to be someone great.
